La nueva silla de Adriana tiene casi 100 años. Cuando la ví por primera vez, toda sucia y con la tapicería hecha un asco, no imaginaba que se trataba de una silla tan antigua ni de tanta calidad, pero me enamoré instantáneamente de ella. Me decidí por sus líneas rectas y sencillas, muy art-decó, y por la placa que llevaba en la parte posterior "Muebles por encargo", que me hacía sospechar que la persona que acababa llevarse las otras 4 segundos antes de mí había hecho una gran compra...
Adriana's new chair is almost 100 years old. When I found it I couldn't imagine it was that old and also with nice quality, as it was really dirty and rickety. I finally decided to buy it as it was a bargain and also because of the little sign in the back with the "Made to order furniture" in it, that made think thay maybe it could turn to be a good piece...;)
Así que ya sólo quedaba quitarle el barniz antiguo y darle una nueva cara a la madera de castaño, arreglar el antiguo sistema de muelles, encolarla y retapizarla con una tela que encajara en la habitación de Adriana. Este diseño de Maison Decor me pareció perfecto (no demasiado rosa, pero sí con un toque romántico) y, con la ayuda de mi profe de clase de restauración, paciencia y muchas ganas, aquí está el resultado.
So I decided to try to renew it with the help of my teacher, as I'm taking some furniture restoration lessons. The fabric is from Maison Decor.
Y al llegar a casa.... Adriana abrió los ojos como platos al verla. Me dió un gran beso con un "gracias, mami" y corrió a sentarse en ella. Y posó muy sonriente para la foto (en fin, quizá el hecho de que esa misma tarde hubiese pisado por primera una peluquería tuviera bastante que ver en ello ;)).
So, when I finally got home with the chair, Adriana opened up her eyes, kissed me a "thank you mummy" and run to sit down on it. And she wanted to pose for a photo (well, I must say that the fact that she had had one hour before her hair cut for the first time in her short life, maybe helped her smile to be broader ;) )
Pero, a fin de cuentas, Adriana es una niña de 3 años que -admitámoslo- prefiere mil veces tumbarse boca arriba en la alfombra de su habitación a sentarse en "la nueva silla que casi tiene 100 años" y en la que su mamá lleva trabajando varias semanas... ¡Ay, quién fuera Adriana!
But... Adriana is just a 3 years old little girl who prefers lying in the carpet of her bedroom rather to seating on her "almost 100 years old chair" where mummy has spent hours and hours working hard during the last weeks... I wish I were Adriana!
Unas puertas correderas como estas son la mejor solución para espacios estrechos. Me gusta mucho ese aire industrial, con los raíles a la vista. Y las lámparas son maravillosas []
