Está lejos, demasiado lejos para ni siquiera pensar en alquilar esta habitación del Hotel Udai Bilas Palace. Pero acabo de dar con mi bañera perfecta. Ala, otra dirección para la agenda de los viajes imposibles… · This gorgeous vintage tub is in the Udai Bilas Palace Hotel in India. Too far from home to even think of spending a night there, but I think I’ve just found my perfect tub. It goes directly to my wished-but-impossible-trips agenda…

Muebles neo-góticos [] New gothic styled furniture

 

Las camas perfectas para tumbarte a leer novela histórica ambientada en el medievo. ¿Quizá llegó el momento de releer Los Pilares de la Tierra o La Catedral del Mar?… El diseñador de estos muebles, el británico Tim Barron, habla de un «gótico minimalista» y, bueno, yo más que minimalista lo veo pelín austero. Muy monacal, vaya…

Lámpara 2097 [] 2097 chandelier – Gino Sarfatti (1958)

Esta es una de esas lámparas que acaban dándote dolor de cuello… de tanto mirar hacia arriba para disfrutarlas desde todos los ángulos. Y realmente se adueñan del espacio en el que están colgadas, sea éste grande o pequeño, espartano o de lo más recargado… Es un diseño del año 1957 del gran Gino Sarfatti y uno de mis diseños favoritos. Editada por la firma italiana Flos, el mod. 2097 se ofrece en dos tamaños: 30 y 50 (entiendo que bombillas, pero no he tenido la paciencia de contarlas) y en plateado o dorado. Eso sí, yo daría algo por una de las primeras ediciones, con su pátina y sus cables viejos… (soy una sentimental, ¡qué le vamos a hacer!) · This is one of my favourite ceiling lamps ever… one of this type of lamps that give you pain in the neck just of looking up all the time to enjoy the views ;). Mod. 2097 was designed by great Gino Sarfatti in the middle of the XXth c. and, since them, it has been selected by top interior designers worldwide! Nowadays edited by Flos, one of my dreams would be to have a vintage one at home and, well, a home where it could fit!!

Pues sí, hoy hace 40 años que el hombre puso por primera vez el pie en la luna y, por lo que he podido ver en las estadísticas de la derecha, casi ningun@ de nosotr@s estábamos ahí como para poder recordarlo de primera mano… · I’d like to celebrate with you that 40 years ago today, the man stepped on the moon for the first and last time until now… And, as far as I can see from the statistics on the right sidebar, not many among us where there to see it live…

Y sin embargo yo, al igual que Amstrong y sus compañeros del Apollo 11, me encontraba en esos días disfrutando de la magia de la ingravidez, dando vueltas y más vueltas, boca arriba, boca abajo en la nave espacial más especial que jamás se haya inventando: la barriga de mi madre ;). Y mucho más a gustito, qué os voy a decir… · That very day, as Armstrong and his colleagues where in the Apollo 11 about to land in the moon, I was enjoying a different and much more comfortable kind of ingravity… from my mummy’s belly!
Así que muchas FELICIDADES a todos los que, como yo, pertenecéis a la fabulosa cosecha del 69 por vuestra entrada en la nueva década!! (lo sé, lo sé, debo ser un poco rara, pero en lugar de andar llorando por las esquinas por la llegada de los 40, estoy feliz y expectante de ver lo que me tienen preparado, casi como los astronautas al pisar el suelo lunar ;)). · So today I’d like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all those who, like me, have already or will be turning 40 very soon!! (I know it doesn’t sound very realistic, but I promise you I’m really happy and excited to see what the 40s will be bringing me ;))

Pequeños muebles patchwork reciclados [] Patchwork (reused) small furniture


Nada más ver estos maravillosos muebles (estanterías y cómodas) de la tienda berlinesa Schubladen*, hechos con cajones y otras piezas recuperadas de muebles antiguos, se me vino a la cabeza esta otra mesita que hice hace meses durante las clases de restauración y que, según algunos mails que me llegaron, os gustó mucho…

Simply beautiful patchwork furniture (shelves and chest of drawers) made of old and mismatched drawers. If you are visiting Berlin soon, don’t miss this amazing shop Schubladen where you will be able to enjoy them live. And somehow they remind me to this little side table I restored a few months ago…
