La expresión anglosajona de «hacer una tormenta en una taza de té» (making a storm in a tea cup), viene a ser nuestro equivalente de «ahogarse en un vaso de agua». El equipo formado por el artista Martin Smith y el ingeniero Nick Regan, ambos ingleses, crea a través de su empresa Laikingland, objetos o juguetes preciosistas y delicados que se sirven de la energía cinética para sorprendernos. Daría lo que fuera por una de estas tazas-tormenta hechas en porcelana fina de Delft pintadas a mano una a una… ¡¡pero no las 660 libras esterlinas -aprox. 742€- que cuestan!!
«Making a storm in a tea cup» is the idiom that inspired english artist Martin Smith and engineer Nick Regan to create, via their company Laikingland this gorgeous cup of fine Royal Delft porcelain… with a storm in it!. I adore the design, the kinetics and the idea, though I don’t like the price at all: 660 sterling pounds, about 742€!!. By the way, in spanish, we use a different idiom to express the same: to drown in a glass of water. Let’s hope that glass is less expensive…;)
